Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a good one. I think we may have all just forgot it was so close. We have been so preoccupied with the basement and then Ash came down with strep throat (we did not take her anywhere until she was medicated for at least 24 hours). It was a crazy weekend, everything but the stairs are sheet rocked, yay! Now we need to start mudding and taping. The carpet is scheduled to be put in on the 20th, I finally feel like we might actually get the girls down there! Anyway, yesterday we slept in a little late and had a hectic morning, but made it to church just a few minutes late. The girls sang during sacrament and looked cute in their new dresses, see pics below. After church we headed to see my family. Everyone was there. James came home from Boise and George and Harriet were even there. George is done with school for the summer and Harriet is visiting until the end of June. Although, she had some serious jet lag, poor girl. We had a fun night visiting and playing outside. Here is a pic of Kami after she "ate" her oreo.

Here are the girls' new dresses. I bought all three of them for under $10 each, they were normally $50 each. Penney's was having a good sale and I had some nice coupons.

I think a red sweater would look so cute with Ash's black dress. Poor girl, last week I realized she had outgrown most of her dresses and didn't have much to wear anymore. She is going through a serious growth spurt and I am refusing to buy pants until next fall. I know if I buy them now she won't be able to wear them then. We also picked up some shorts and a jacket for her. I saved $172 and I didn't pay more than $10 for anything. Kaite had to get in on the action too. She has plenty of clothes but we found this dress on the clearance rack for $8.50 and she LOVED it, so I got it for her.
We ate strawberries off our little indoor plant- weird but they were good!Here are the gifts the girls got me. I love these candle holders, now I have to get my candles.
I love canvas pictures. We are debating on where to put them. I think once the painting is done downstairs we will be rearranging some decor.
It was a good Mother's day even though it kind of flew by. We have another busy week ahead of us and lots of work to do in the basement.
I do want to add my thought on motherhood. Growing up I really did not want kids or a husband. I was going to be the career woman with a big dog, I have the big dog! I can honestly say that being a mom is the best thing in the world, it is also the hardest but also the most rewarding. I love my girls and husband more than anything and they make me so happy. I love spending time with them and doing fun things with them. I am glad they are not old enough yet to not want to hang out with us! I dread the day they move out and I don't get to see them everyday. I don't like the idea of going to London without them, because I love seeing their smiling faces every morning when they wake up. I love how Kami has to sit and cuddle with me whenever I do anything- even type. I love how Ash teases me everyday. I love Kaite's enormous hugs and how she loves to help with EVERYTHING. They have become my life and I couldn't want anything more. I may not have that "big career" but I have something much better, something that will last for a lifetime and beyond. Thanks guys for making everyday feel like Mother's day!

Basement Update

The girls' room is sheet rocked and the storage room is about 95% done. We spent all day yesterday working on it and wow it feels good to get that much done. We did have to stop last night when we realized we would have to dissemble our power source to finish, so we need to wait for daylight to complete the storage room. The hall and closet shouldn't take long. However, Ky has to cut into the ceiling over the stairs and we may find a stash of insulation up there, which should make things very interesting. We plan to be done rocking on Saturday. I am looking forward to that I was in charge of screwing off all the pieces and my shoulder hurts. Thankfully, Ky has some neat gadgets to make the job much easier, but I don't always hit the studs when I am screwing them in, oops! And yes we used to hoist to rock the ceiling, is there any other way?

Kami was so cute the other day. We snuggled in bed for awhile and then when it was time to get up she threw a fit. She did not want to get out of my bed, she wanted to lay there and snuggle. I don't think she is feeling the best. She all of a sudden came down with a nice runny nose and a cough, it all seems like her allergic reaction to milk. I have been trying to run down her diet to figure out if she got any and I can't come up with anything, and she does try to sneak things. Poor girl, it will be better when she can understand.
We put in our last book order for the year and the girls were so excited! Grandma gave them some money for books and they did good with their selections. Ash is very excited to get some fairy books we can't find at the library. Kaite has really started to read and read an entire book to me the other day all by herself! Only 15 days of school left including today!

Happy Birthday Amy!

Tonight was Amy's 19th birthday. Since she is so far from home we all got together and had a party for her. We had an awesome dinner that consisted of my bruschetta chicken and potatoes. We also made Amy my favorite strawberry swirl cake, which she loved. We spent a good night visiting and telling stories. I should mention that Amy is my cousin from Seattle. She is up here staying with my family and going to school. So Happy Birthday Amy!
A funny little side note- The girls call her Aunt Amy since she is close to Mar's age and is more like an Aunt to them. However, Amy calls me Aunt Kathy since I am the age of her Aunt's back home. We could sure confuse some poor soles if they happen to drop by the house and heard all that!

Weekend Fun and Accomplishments

We had a fun weekend. Friday we went out and flew kites in the backyard. Ash was at her friend's house and missed it.

Ky also worked with Kaite on riding a two-wheeler. This was the second time he has worked with her and by the end of the night she pretty much had it.

On Saturday we cleaned up the yard and then Ky worked with Kaite again. She had it down within a couple of hours. Here are the bike riding videos from Saturday. Way to go Kaite we are so proud!

Our plant progress, before we gave a ton away. My bathroom is finally looking less like a greenhouse!
The basement is wired and now we have to build the duct work before we can sheetrock, and the carpet will be in next week. Time is our issue now, Ky is staying super busy and now has a ton of side work popping up and a new project in the works, which means more planning and zoning and city council meetings, ugh. I am not complaining about the work, but those meetings can last forever.
Sunday we had the monthly dinner with Ky's family. This is Chris playing Operation with the girls. What a busy weekend.

Fun

Here are some fun photos to see. Kaite got a hold of my camera the other day and this is what I found. Marianne taught her how to take pics of herself, but there are also always pics of random objects throughout the house too.

I just love her cute personality! The other day she told me "my pillow smelled like mom" I asked her if that was good and she said "it is better than smelling like dad"! She cracks us up.

This last pic is of the science fair at the school last night. This was a fun idea. They had all sorts of experiments set up in every room. The girls really enjoyed making slime. Ash loved the portable blowup planetarium best. We all had a good time and Kami even got in on some of the action- she TRIED to pull some of the exhibits down! Got to love those three!

Birthday Photos

On Sunday I took some birthday photos of Kami in her dress. She is such a ham, sometimes it is really hard to get a pic of her and she has this camera face she makes. We had some fun and I got some cute ones where her personality really came through.

This one was my favorite you can really see her smile in it, little stinker wouldn't sit back up!

I have been fighting a nice case of laryngitis since we cleaned out the basement and now the farmers are starting to plow, that will help me get back to normal! Anyway, Ky said I sounded horrible on Sunday so we stayed home from church and Kami wanted to wear her dress just like her sisters. I thought I would seize the opportunity and take some photos. I think I will try again with some flowers. There have got to be flowers blooming somewhere! We did set up the trampoline this week and I think all of our snow if FINALLY gone! Now we really need to get the yard cleaned up, we made the biggest mess when we cleaned out the basement this winter.
Last Saturday we went to the Easter egg hunt, yep two weeks late thanks to the snow storm. The S&R puts it on every year and this year the girls got to help stuff and hide the eggs. Kami was so cute though, she just wanted to pick up the eggs and shake them. She had no interest in picking up more than three, I had to convince her we would open them later. Ash and Kaite did really good and Kaite got to a point where she thought she had enough and stopped, funny girl. Kaite did end up with three prizes. The girls had fun and the weather was so nice! The weather has been so nice the past few days we have been riding bikes and jumping on the trampoline. We have all gotten a little too much sun at times, not complaining about that! Ky has stayed busy getting sprinkler systems going. The basement has kind of stalled a little. The wiring is all but done then we can redo the duct work and start sheetrocking! We have two weeks until the carpet is here, now we have to find the time. I have everything ready for them. Kaite's new bedspread came yesterday, she was so excited! We do need to repaint their dresser, but I honestly think we will be waiting for trim and carpet so I am not too worried about that. Wow, that ended up being a longer post than I planned. I guess that is our weekly wrap up.
I also have to post the funniest story about Kami. Last night she was sitting on the potty by herself before she got in the tub and Ky heard her come out into the living room. He asked her what she was doing and she said poop. So he asked her if she went in the potty and she started walking away. He followed her and found out what she had been doing. She went on our bathroom floor quite aways from the potty. When I explained to her that it goes in the potty she said "that's right" all we could do was laugh. This morning she went in and pointed at my floor and said "yukies all gone, yukies go in the potty". She is so cute!

Happy Birthday Kami!

Wednesday my baby turned 2! We had a good day. When we woke her up and said happy birthday she said "cake"! I promptly said no cake for breakfast! Throughout the day whenever we said happy birthday she would continue to say "cake" and then go point at it and point at her mouth. She loved all the attention. We started out painting her toes. She has to have her toes painted sparkly pink, she is such girl! We had her favorite for lunch- pizza and strawberries, what a mess. Everyone came over for cake and ice cream. Opening presents was a bit of a disaster. I am not quite sure who the party was for Kami or her older sisters that were tearing into her presents faster than she was. Anyway, when it was all over Kami loved all her new gifts. She has been playing with the ball Chris and Chantelle gave her non-stop. She has also been pushing around all her dolls and Mickeys in her baby stroller. She now sleeps with 8 or 9 different stuffed animals. And she wont go anywhere without her Mickey sunglasses. I haven't taken pictures of her in her birthday dress yet, maybe Sunday. I still can't believe my baby is 2, it seems like she has been with us forever but then just like it was yesterday that she was born. There was a lot of Mickey at the party, but that is what she loves. I did a Mickey cake last year and had a hard time deciding this year, but figured that is what she would love best. I also didn't even really think about the cake until a couple of days before since we have been so preoccupied with the basement. I didn't have time to make the cake exactly how I wanted, but it turned out good anyway. I just used frosting this time instead of fondant, which would have given it more of a smooth look. I also used cream cheese frosting out of the can on top, which doesn't smooth or crust very well but Kami loves it. I cheated and made the Mickeys and the dots out of gum paste instead of fondant and didn't have my red gel color for the icing so I improvised and probably turned everyone's teeth red for a week! I thought it turned out well especially since I started it the night before, I way procrastinated! Here is her slide show of the craziness! Happy Birthday Kami!

Basement update: The homeruns (electrical term) are run for the entire basement and the girls' room is wired. We are going to start to rebuild the duct work today. The carpet is picked out and ordered and I just need to finalize the paint colors. I am so excited!
