Fun things

We have been keeping busy again this week. I did have some fun though making this cake for my mom's girls camp group. The top cake is strawberry coconut with cream cheese frosting. The bottom is chocolate with buttercream frosting. So yummy, Ashley really wanted to eat it!
I also started up a new blog here. It is under construction and doesn't even have pictures yet. But it is exciting!
I thought this picture was so funny. The girls insisted on trying a sour warhead! Ashley had watermelon and Kaitlyn black cherry. Kaitlyn just chewed hers up as fast as she could! Ashley suffered through! They don't want any more!

Happy Father's Day!

What a father's day. Ashley woke up at 600 this morning so excited and sick. She has strep throat again. So, we made waffles for Kyle then headed off to church splitting up the meetings. Kyle went to YM, then I taught Sunday school, then Kyle back for sacrament. After we had lunch Kyle headed to the doctor with Ash so I could make cakes. I feel bad this hasn't been much of a fun Father's Day for him. He does say "all he needs is his girls". He did get some fun things though. We found him some new jeans, an awesome shirt, and a cot for camping. I don't know who is more excited about the cot him or Ashley.
Happy Father's Day Kyle! You are the best father the girls could ever ask for!

Air Show

We went to the air show yesterday. We had so much fun and the weather cooperated with us. We even met up with Chris and Chantelle. It is amazing to watch those guys do their stunts and fly the way they do. The favorite is always the Jelly Bean plane, for the girls anyways. I always like the ones with the big guns. And this year they even had jumpers. The Here are a few of our favorite pictures. The girls loved to watch those guys float back down to Earth.

Rain, Rain, and more Rain

Is it EVER going to stop raining! We have had a few good things come from it.
Our first radish from the garden. They are getting big fast. Ky said it was very good!
This was our view tonight off the front deck. I don't think the picture does the color justice. I think this was the brightest rainbow I have ever seen. I love the double, we get a few of those out here.

We are just about to finish our first week (of four) of swimming lessons. Thankfully, we have been taking through the college and it is indoors. I love the program they have. Ashley is taking two weeks with them and Kaitlyn four. I was lucky to get 3 out of 4 classes I wanted with them. They filled up in under five minutes. Kaitlyn has really taken to the water and is swimming on her noodle and her back all by herself. Ashley has had a harder time and they dropped her down to level 1 today. She has had a hard time since she broke her collar bone two years ago. She is finally putting her face in the water and is definitely more comfortable in this class. I am glad that I got them into this program it is so worth the drive! The only draw back to all this so far is the weather. We leave the house in the nasty rain and by the time we get to lessons it is twenty degrees warmer and sunny. How are you suppose to dress for that? I am so ready for some sun!

Getting Ready

We have had another busy week. Kaitlyn got shots this past Wednesday. Now she is all ready for Kindergarten in two years! I decided to do it before July 1st when Idaho no longer covers immunizations for privately insured people. Who knows how much they will cost then. She was so brave and only said "ouch" twice, no tears. I can't believe how brave she is sometimes. Ashley was thoroughly relieved that she didn't have to have any. She made everyone in the office laugh when she gave the biggest grin to the news! Katie is doing great and I am wondering if it was more than sugar water in those syringes!

I finally got my mixer yesterday! The Kitchenaid 600 series. My fondant recipe just burns out the smaller models. This one has the 575 watt motor. I am loving it! We made our first batch of bread last night, Chantelle's awesome recipe. So yummy!
Kyle is now pushing me to get a business license and everything. I am going to start taking one day a week to practice all my cake skills. I recently took a gum paste class and loved it! Now I can make the more realistic looking sugar flowers. I am enjoying this new hobby and can't wait to use my mixer. This week I will start on the bow for the present cake I am making for my mom's girls camp group. I am so excited not to be making fondant by hand! Hopefully I will be starting a separate blog soon too!

Oh and I decided to go with the Kitchenaid over the Bosch because Jen's Bosch has a hard time with cookie dough and larger batches of bread. She said that she wishes she still had her Kitchenaid. I figured since her Bosch wasn't keeping up with her Kitchenaid (which wasn't the 575 watt motor) I would just burn it down the first time I used it for fondant. I had always heard good things about Bosch, I was a little surprised. And that wasn't her only complaint about it.

Happy Birthday Kyle!

Today is Kyle's birthday! He turned ..... 33. Although, I have been telling him 35 or 40! I can be terrible sometimes! We started off with breakfast in bed and presents. I had a harder time this year finding something great. He said "he is just happy as he is and doesn't need anything" that didn't help much! Later we had a specially requested dinner of meatloaf and twice baked potatoes. Then chocolate cake with my special frosting(yum) and strawberries! I think his day went pretty well. Right now he is at YM and I can't think of anyone who told them about his birthday! :)
Breakfast in bed
AHHH! Smoke alarm!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how great Kyle is. I look up to him in so many ways. He is so patient, kind, and selfless. I don't know how he does it, but he is such a good example to me. The girls just adore him. I can't even get Kami to say mama anymore, everything is dad. He is such a great father. They love spending time with him. As a matter of fact, Kaitlyn wanted to go to work with him today instead of story time. It took quite awhile to convince her she couldn't go, we missed story time. Kyle is such a wonderful husband and father, my world would be lost without him. Everyday I am so thankful that I have him in my life. I love you Kyle and I hope you had a great birthday!

Circus Fun

We headed to the circus tonight. I have very fond memories of the circus when I was younger. I went to the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey circus in Denver, and it was BIG. I loved it and always wanted to take the girls. Well we are far from them, so we hit the local circus. We had fun and the girls loved it! We ran into Jen and ended up sitting with them. I think that made it even better for the girls. I was glad to see that they had lions, tigers, bears, and elephants. We saw some really neat tricks. I seem to be having some issues with my camera. I guess it is time to read the owners manual!
Although, I have always wondered about the safety of those shows. Especially when they don't use nets. Tonight we got to see first hand, one of the scarf guys fell. His cable broke and he fell to the ground. It was quite traumatic for the girls. He seemed okay(?) as they carted him off in the ambulance. How okay can you be when you fall how many feet upside down and hit the ground. He was moving his toes though. Anyway, we had a fun night and topped it off with pizza. I am now hoping for no nightmares tonight. I guess it wasn't exactly what I had in mind for a circus memory!
