Piano Swap

Out with the old and in with the new. We have been lucky to have been given a free piano ten years ago, but now we have been given a second one. This is the one we have had for the past ten years.
And this is the one we got yesterday.
When Kyle showed up I was like what!! He patiently explained that this one is in tons better shape than the other one. We always had plans to refinish the first one until we found out that the soundboard was warped. Ky said it wouldn't be worth our time to refinish it. This one has great "guts" and he said is in excellent shape, plus it is already mostly stripped. This one is solid oak and is pretty plain, but Ky is going to do some routing and add some detail to it. I am excited to get it looking decent since it is the first thing you see when you walk in the house! If we can stick to our plan we should be able to start working on it come April and hopefully have it mostly finished this summer, basement comes first! That is the bench he build last year, we like it so we kept it. Anyway, Missy was very excited to get her new piano. The girls and I had fun watching them get it up the stairs in her house! It was a crazy day three different piano moves in one Saturday! When we got home the girls had fun helping Ky put all the keys on in order! I am glad that we do have a piano the he can play, I love to hear him play!

How fun- I can't wait to see what it looks like refinished- I love old pianos- they have such character. Ours was Aaron's great grandmother's and was played by President Heber Grant.

I do love my piano. I've been playing it alot the past day :) I know that it won't be our last piano... the plan is to get a baby grand someday :) But I'm just glad to have a realy piano at this point! I think I'm going to sand down some of the rouph areas and paint it this summer.
I'm still trying to figure out what will happen when we leave Idaho...
I can't wait to see yours when it is done.
