April Fools Your 31!

It happened. On Wednesday I turned 31, yikes! I think this was harder than 30. It was a fun day. Ash had half a day, but Ky and Kaite made me breakfast and treated me right. I did have to attend parent/teacher conferences but that went great as always. Ash is reading above the third grade level and since the school librarian wont let her check out the third grade books her teacher has given her access to her own private books. She is the class "chapter book reader". She is also trying to be the first one in her class to hit 400 books read this school year, she is so close. Anyways, we had bruschetta chicken for dinner and I got some great gifts, thanks everyone! I had a good birthday. Although, it wouldn't be my birthday without some crappy gloomy weather, mother nature delivered!
The presents. A new MP3.
The cutest throw ever!
The slicer/shredder attachment for my mixer to name a few.
My cake the girls made.
Kami enjoying the decorating. And Pillsbury makes a wonderful chocolate cream cheese frosting milk free!!! Kami is loving life! FYI this is a spatula not a knife.
April fools started us out with over three inches of snow- not a good April fools joke! After school Ash spent some time unearthing a dinosaur from one of my presents. She loved it and may still end up a paleontologist after all!

We also attended a wedding reception for Erin. Erin is the girl that does our hair and also one of the cutest people EVER. She looked so gorgeous and did a great job decorating and doing her own flowers. She really was a beautiful bride. Of course, not one of us brought our camera or phone! Here is her announcement, it too was just adorable.

I thought it was fitting that she got married on April Fools- so her!
Here is what else we have been up to.
The girls spending "quality time" with Aunt Marianne over spring break.
My bathtub has been turned into an incubator for the tomatoes and peppers!
And we are hitting the basement hard to catch up on how far behind we have fallen. We also have numerous Easter activities this weekend, provided the weather doesn't ruin everything. Thankfully, I haven't focused too much on the fact that I am moving closer to 40, ahh! Oh well it has been a fun week!

12 Years!!

Wow! What can I say about 12 years. I would definitely do it again! I think it has been a good twelve years and I am looking forward to many more to come! Our anniversary plans didn't go exactly how we wanted to this year, but we improvised. We did manage to see "our bench" amongst all the busyness.
Happy Anniversary Ky!
This is from our date the other night. We went bowling and I kicked Ky's butt the first game. Honestly, the whole game was sad. We haven't been in so long we are terrible bowlers!
I did get my new phone this week and thankfully it was the same color and everything from my last one. Now I need pictures on it.
The new Fablehaven book came out this week and even though Ky started out way ahead of me I did beat him and finished Friday night, he finished Saturday night. We are now reading out loud to the girls. We both agree that this was the best book yet, too bad it is the end of the series.
These are from Pam's party yesterday. It turned out to be a nice day to be outside. The girls had so much fun and Kami really enjoyed finding the eggs.
Ash throwing a softball.
Kaite helping shell pecans.
And Kami in the dirt- where else! She was helping plant lily's with Missy and Briant. We all had a good time.

Spring!!!

Well it has been another week since I have posted and I have more pictures and another update. These are the tomatoes we planted last week. There are a few plants sprouting.
The peppers haven't come up yet. We think they may have been getting too hot in the window so we moved them back onto the table and that seems to help, if they can survive Kami!
Here are a few more pics of the basement progress.
Kaite being our big helper.
Ky found this magazine in the ceiling, it is from January 1974. We looked through it, it had a neat article on color TV's and how they were just a fad!
This is the last trailer load of garbage until we pull all the duct work. And yes we still have snow.
We didn't get as far as we wanted to this week. Ky was doing some side work and had five searches in four days. We are still hoping to spray this week but nothing is set in stone yet. We did hit Home Depot this week and picked up the rest of the studs to frame in the entire basement, minus the three walls with the new windows. I can't wait to get it sprayed and then things will start going really fast. I have been taking pictures along the way, but I won't post until after we spray.
I also want to mention that while we were in HD Kami had a huge milestone. She used a public restroom for the first time and went! Since Ash had a hard time with this this is a big deal for us. Kami has also managed to stay dry minus the morning diaper for the past four days now. She loves her "big girl panties" and will actually cry at night when we put a diaper on her.
Ky had a camp out this weekend with the scouts. I am quickly dreading his camp outs, every time he goes something happens. Last year it was Kaite's appendix before that it was the cat- well there were actually two separate cat incidents while he was gone. This is what happened this camp out.
Ash some how fell while riding her scooter and split her lip open (this is post two days, it was actually quite purple the day of). She managed to do this before Ky even got to the church! She also sprained her thumb real good, but for a moment I questioned whether or not it was broken.
I dropped my phone in the bathtub while bathing Kami. I have actually had this phone for three years and have been up for a new one for awhile. I haven't been able to find anything I really like, so I put in the insurance claim and should be receiving a new one on Tuesday.
Ky thinks I am crazy and should have gotten a new one, but I love my chocolate I am just hoping the replacement is a decent color. I can always return it and get a new one if I decide to go that way. The only problem with a new one is that all the ones I like require a plan change. We have had the same plan since we got phones years ago and it will require a price change to change plans, we like our plan now. Make sense?
We did have some fun while he was gone.
We rented the Princess and the Frog which turned out to be a huge disappointment for me, the girls liked it. We also gave some pedicures, enjoyed some sun, and SLEPT in the next morning. I can't wait to see what the next camp out will bring- NOT!
Oh well, Happy Spring!

Skiing and Spring

Well it has been a week since I have posted AGAIN. We had some much needed fun this week and lots of pictures to prove it. Kami has seriously been trying to potty train this week! Tuesday morning after she peed three times in the potty she looks and me and says "sucker". My first thought was that she really knows what she is doing, the little stinker! She loved her blue tongue.
This one is of Kaite (she likes this spelling best) she was walking around the house with her pillow over her head, it was so funny! I wish we would have gotten it on video because it was hilarious to watch her attempt to walk around.
These next few are from the search Ky went on last Saturday. This first one is of the view from up top. The next two are the chopper (Ky's job was to land the helicopter) and if you look close at the last one you can see the broken right femur, ouch!
Thursday we FINALLY hit the slopes for the first time this season. Of course we wait until the last week Kelly's is open to go. The snow was great and we had so much fun with Missy and Briant. I was a little apprehensive since it has been almost 8 years since I have been skiing. Somehow my knee brace got left at home, so I didn't have the best night but I was impressed with how quickly I picked it back up. By the end of the night my knee was on fire and noticeably swollen the next day. It was great to get out again. Ky and Briant spent most of the night on the upper runs while me and Missy took it slower- it had been 8 years. We use to ski all the time when we were dating and first married. We skied Pebble a ton while in college and Ky did the ski instructor thing. We are really hoping to get the girls up to the slopes next year. I learned when I was 5 or 6 and I think teaching them young is awesome.
The girls had fun trying on my gear for me.
Missy and Briant
Us. My snow pants are so long, but I love them!
While we were out this is what the girls were doing with my camera!
They took tons of cute pictures.
Yesterday we planted peppers and tomatoes. Yep, we are so anxious for spring. The girls had fun in the dirt.
The girls are so excited about their new room, this morning they were up at 7 working on it as a "surprise" for us. We are hoping to have them down there by May 1st. We are planning on spraying with kilz the end of this week first of next. I will post pictures after that.
Lots of Pictures this week, but we had a fun week.

Catch Up

Since it has been almost two weeks since I have posted I figured I better catch up. We have been busy around here. Last week my sis turned 17- CRAZY! She will be graduating next year, so scary! We had a fun night visiting and looking over more wedding stuff Harriet sent- I am so excited! Then Marianne and Amy decided to give me a makeover. It was fun playing "dress up", Ky said I looked like a teenager! I figure hey if I can pull that off I am not going to complain!
Ash also had a fun day at school. They dressed up as their favorite storybook character. Ash was Cam Jansen, I thought her freckles were so cute!
Kami seemed to come down with a cold or something. She had a cough and fever then got better and got sick again. Tuesday night she spiked a fever of 103.1 and had us up all night. I took her to the doc on Wed and he put her on 3 different medications plus neb treatments. She actually does very well with the neb treatments. I just turn on Mickey and she is good to go I don't even have to sit with her. That nebulizer has more than paid for itself.
I still can't help but feel sorry for her, but thankfully she is doing much better. The doc wasn't exactly sure what was wrong with her. Her lungs were clear but her cough just got horrible. He suggested the flu and then a secondary infection, which is what I figured but the flu? She had both flu vaccines so that isn't very likely. Thankfully, she seems back to her old self, tearing apart the house!
Ash and Katie have been doing dance in town here. They were so cute, but last week Katie decided she didn't want to do it anymore. I got some good video of Ash. Although, she does better when she doesn't know I am filming, I will try again next week. This is after her third class.

Friday we spent the day finishing the demo in the basement and hauling out all the garbage. We loaded the trailer down and carried out 12 big black garbage cans full of crap. We are 98% done with the demo!! We are now going to start building more walls and Ky has to do some fire blocking, but we are almost ready to spray the kilz! It was exhausting work. The girls had so much fun helping, they are so excited!
These are the picts I took today. It has been so nice lately and today we finally had no more snow on the driveway! The girls had fun getting their bikes out and enjoying the fresh air. We still need to sweep off the driveway and do some spring yard work once the rest of the snow is gone. It was ironic though, we were basking in the sun in the front of the house and Ky was snowmobiling in the backyard!
Last weekend we spent some time with Ky's family. We had fun snowmobiling, playing games, and talking baby talk! Yep, it is officially out in the open Chris and Chantelle are having a baby! They are due September 16th and Ash said she hopes the baby will be born on her birthday. We are so excited! Probably me the most. I will finally have a baby close that I can hold and give back then go home and sleep. It has been fun talking about all the baby stuff! Congratulations Chris and Chantelle!
And I can happily say that I am all but done with the taxes!!! That will be a happy day!
I think I hit most of the highlights from the past week, I honestly don't remember what we did the week before that seems so long ago. Right now I am focusing on spring and sun!
