4th of July

So for the 4th this year we went back up to the cabin. We wanted to watch the fireworks from the boat, but that didn't happen due to the fact that Ky had school Tuesday morning. There was also some sort of confusion with the lodge about when the fireworks actually were, too bad I was looking forward to it. Anyway, we headed up to the cabin and had tons of fun and excitement. We let Sam ride in the back of the Tahoe for the first time and he loved it. We spent the weekend hanging out and playing games. Scribblish turned out to be a huge hit. We have played it as a family before with the girls but that is not the same as playing with adults. We stayed up way late one of the nights, and after me and Ky went to bed we could still hear Mar and George laughing about the drawings. FYI I really am not an artist, Mar had fun trying to figure out my drawings! We also played Ticket to Ride and Monopoly Deal, George kept winning those ones.
We spent some time seeing the big fish. There were so many people there.
The girls put their feet in the river, it was so hot outside.
We made smores' one afternoon. We did this in the afternoon because the mosquitoes were terrible!
I am so glad that we found cookies without milk in them!
Mar is now brunette, again.
We also took the girls fishing. This was Kami's first time fishing and she was so excited.
Kaite was the only one who caught a fish.
He was just a little guy so we let him go.
The most exciting thing that happened to us was that there was a bat in the cabin the first night we were there. It dove for my head as we were about to start one of our games and I freaked out. I hid under the table and everyone laughed at me until Mar joined me. Daisy came so close to catching it quite a few times, thankfully, it left and we didn't see it again. However, Kami had some bad nightmares about it and ended up sleeping with us.
When we got home we had a BBQ and set off fireworks in the driveway.
Then we headed for the local show since we couldn't be out too late. It's a small show but you can show up right before it starts and still sit in the back of your truck with the show over your head.
After the fireworks we put the girls to bed and then played Just Dance 2 with Mar and George for awhile. We had a good laugh and loved watching George and Ky do the Rasputin song!
We had a fun weekend, it was good to get away for awhile. I think Ky needed the break from school, finals week is next week and he has been super busy with all his final projects and presentations.
**Happy Birthday James!**
