Yellowstone and Camping

This past week we have made two trips to Yellowstone. The first we went with Chris and Chantelle, we actually spent the weekend up in Island Park at the cabin. Saturday we went and saw Old Faithful and some animals. I saw my first bear in the park EVER! We saw a mom and two cubs (Chris got a better pic than me) but look close and you can see the cubs.
Old Faithful. Kami enjoyed pointing at it.
We stopped and got ice cream, this is Kami's version.
The girls didn't like the other steam geysers, it was windy.
When we got back the boys took the girls fishing. They caught quite a few but only kept five. Ash caught the biggest one we've ever seen come out of that river.
Ash didn't like holding it this way, she could feel it's teeth.
Later we made smores.
This is what Kami looked like when we were done.
Sunday we got up and took the dogs to the river. This was Sam's first time in the water and he did good. He had to "help" Esau bring the sticks back to shore. Poor Daisy is getting old and she tires quickly, Ky had to hold her out of the water for some of the time.
Us girls tried to stay out of the splash zone.
We had a good weekend and the girls enjoyed getting really dirty.
Then on Wednesday we headed back up to the park with my mom. We made the upper loop and stopped at some sights along the way.
The paint pots
The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
Silly girls!
The petrified tree. This was Ky's highlight. He really wanted to see it. There use to be three, but due to tourists there is just one left, sad.
Kami says "stinky paint pots"
It was a beautiful drive
Mammoth Hot springs
Roaring mountain
Kami's "favorite orange moose". Orange is her favorite color and she just loved this moose, Ky bought it for her.
We have had fun enjoying the last little bit of summer.
We have tomatoes growing in the garden now. This was the first one we had, we have had more since. Things are really starting to grow and harvest now.

School shopping

We have been busy getting ready for school. School starts next week. I can't believe that summer is gone! I feel like they just got out. We have a list of things we never got done, and a longer list of stuff we have been doing in just the past two weeks! Anyway, we have had fun shopping for new clothes. Chantelle even came with us one day, poor girl I think we wore her out! I will say that I was completely surprised by all the 80's stuff that is back in. I say that if I wore it my kids shouldn't! And I think I saw one of the outfits I wore my first day! This did present a challenge for finding tennis shoes, which we didn't. I could only find the bright converse style shoes in Sketchers. I buy the girls Sketchers because 1. they last and 2. they are wide enough for Kami and Kaite to wear, those girls have fat feet! We are still going to hit the outlet stores with Taylor when we visit. The girls have their backpacks and stuff and are ready. We even hit the dentist, Ash is cavity free, Kaite two cavities, bummer. I am kind of ready too, but don't tell them!
Here are a few of our finds.
I had to throw this pic in here. Isn't he cute! This is Lincoln and he is the happiest baby EVER! We watched him the other day while Becca and Addy went to a mother/daughter thing. He is awesome, the best baby ever!I have more catch up to post later, if I ever get to it! Our camping trip and two trips to Yellowstone.

Rigby Lake

Last Saturday we went to Rigby lake with Mahon, Cindy, Missy, and Briant. The weather was perfect and we had so much fun. Kami has been continuously asking if she can "go to the beach" this was as close as we could get. Ky wanted to bring the canoe, and it was a big hit. This is one more thing crossed off our list of stuff to do before school starts.
Missy, Cindy, the girls, and Kyle
Kaite plastered Briant with mud, he was a good sport.
My handsome hubby.
Ash the mermaid.
Kaite rolling in the sand.
And this is the result! She loves to be dirty!
Isn't she cute!
Building sandcastles.
And the monsters who destroy them!
With a big smile on their faces!
It was a fun weekend and we have more planned for this weekend. I am still trying to catch up on my blogging and now I have school shopping picts to post.

One Year Ago...

One year ago right now we were waiting in the ER to be moved up to a room. They still weren't sure it was her appendix, but they were planning on taking it out anyway. That was the worst day of my life. I was so worried about her and a complete mess. Ky was still at camp and trying to get back to see her before surgery. They took her in right before midnight and I will never forget the relief I felt when the doc came and told us "everything went well and it was for sure her appendix". I am so grateful I listened to the spirit that day, the doc said her appendix would have ruptured before morning. I am so glad that we have had one more year with her, and hopefully many more to come. She is the cutest little thing. We love her personality so much!

Blue Angels

Last week we went to see the Blue Angels air show. First I do want to say that I saw them as a kid and it was awesome. I remember it very well and we had fun. So, when I heard they where coming to town I had to get tickets. I talked the show up so much and I was so excited for the girls to see them, especially Kaite. We left Kami with my family, that would have been a major nightmare! And we took Ash, Kaite, Chris and Chantelle with us. We decided to ride one of the shuttles to the show. I will say that I was worried about catching it coming back, but was told "not to worry about it, it would be fine." We did have to wait about an hour for the shuttle (no big deal) and when we got there we found Missy and Briant and started looking for water. They did not allow you to bring in drinks or food, but you could bring empty water bottles and fill them for free. When we did find the water Ky and Chris waited in line for over an hour just to have it run out right before them. I took the girls and we started looking at the other planes. Well to make the rest of our miserable day shorter I will say we ended up waiting 2 hours for food- that ran out too. We paid $3.50 for a bottle of water, our food bill was horrendous! We waited almost 3 hours to get on a shuttle bus in the sun to take us back to our car, and we were at the front of the line! We also ended up changing lines about 4 times before we boarded a bus, that was a nightmare! Ash had a slight case of heat stroke and none of us were happy. We will not be doing that again! But we did have some fun during the day. The Blue Angels were awesome and did not disappoint. The girls had so much fun sitting in the choppers and checking out the cockpit of an airplane. I have lots of pictures to post and thanks to Missy for providing some. Here are the parts of the day we would like to remember! Kaite loved the girl walking on the plane the best, of course. Ash liked the Blue Angels best.
Ky taking the Marine challenge and showing off his brute strength!
Can you see the girl on top?
