Dog Derby

This weekend was the dog derby. We had fun and this was my first, I have always been sick or very prego. Friday I chaperoned Ashley's class, so much fun. They were actually very good and it was so COLD! This is the whole class with slide the playground dog.
This is Mrs. Goebel and Ms. Hill racing each other. They both ended up falling off their sleds and losing their dogs!
Saturday me and the girls headed back over. Ky was in charge of the snowshoe races. Here is the pic of Ashley racing in the snowshoe races.
A dog ran out in front of Ash and another girl. After that handicap she came in fourth. Poor girl my camera died right as her race was starting so I didn't get video. But here is video of Katie running, I had my hands full watching Kami too. Katie did really good and came in third, this was her first time ever in snow shoes.

More picts.
Saturday night we headed up to the girls camp for dinner with the S&R. And can I say girls camp with cabins and a pool- WHAT! Anyway, we snowmobiled in and had an awesome dinner. The girls had so much fun hanging out with the other kids there.
Chad was kind enough to take all the kids out for a ride.
Katie had a rib and LOVED it, she even asked for seconds!
This pic is from the birthday party last week. It was nice to get out of the house and let them play some. We are so ready for spring!

Funny Moments- Ice Skating

Monday we had a busy fun day. We took advantage of the holiday and headed to town to do some ice skating. We had one short detour to the hospital to see Jen's new baby. She had the baby Sunday night a week over due, yuk. The girls had so much fun holding her and Kami had this mesmerized look on her face. I don't think she realized the baby was a tiny human. I loved holding her and hogged her for quite awhile. Yes, I am totally baby hungry. We have a plan and part of that plan is getting the girls in the basement. Still, I see all the babies and all the people I know either trying or getting pregnant and I am totally envious! And there are a ton of them! Ky said to remember that when we do get pregnant we are done and everyone is just getting started, I do have three more at home, even though they are big. Yep, one more for us and that is it- no I am NOT pregnant Marianne! I figure at least I get to help plan a few baby showers, and I can hold them and still go home and sleep at night! Here are a few pictures I took.
After the hospital and visiting with James and George, both came home this weekend, we headed ice skating. I should mention that we had fun visiting with my bros and hearing more wedding plans from George, then giving James crap about getting married. He won't have any marriage talk...I miss Devin. If I could somehow trick him into marrying her we would be set!
Here are the picts I took at the rink. Marianne came with us and we all had a ball. The ice wasn't the best, but it was still fun. Oh and this was the first time for both girls, Ash has been practicing on her roller blades for weeks and it helped.
Marianne's new trick.
We all got hockey skates except Ash. I can't believe the difference they make. I picked it up very fast and didn't fall once. Ky had two really good falls, the first the moment he stepped on the ice and the second in the video below. Ash and Katie spent their fare share of time on the ice but Marianne takes the prize. Check out this first video, it is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time! I laughed so hard I almost peed!

This one is of Ky falling.

This is Katie Skating, she was walking more than skating, but hey she had fun! I think Katie looked like a cute puffy snowman!

This is Ash skating, she did so awesome!

This last one is of me and Mar, after I taught her how to spin, sort of.

We had so much fun and had the rink to ourselves most of the night. The only problem is that I am getting asked about ten times a day if we can go again. I told Ky that we should make our own rink, we have the room.

Funny Things

Here are some fun pictures.
This one I took right after I found Kami with her toothpaste again! Lately she has taken to sucking on it. She knows how to get the lid on and off and puts it back when she is done. I have now moved it to a higher drawer. She is so proud of herself!
I took this one after church. Ky with our leftover crab legs from the S&R dinner. He makes me laugh! Mar said she would be so embarrassed if I posted this.
Last Friday the girls went and saw the dentist. We have found the best dentist EVER. He was so AWESOME! We won't go anywhere else, and funny enough I went to high school with him. His brother was in my class. Anyway, the girls did great. Katie just let them clean her teeth and was even excited to go. She kept asking me all day if it was time to go to the dentist yet, silly girl. Ash did great. She had one cavity between two molars, but she did awesome. She was scared but just held my hand and didn't even cry. She did tell me I wasn't allowed to take a pic though. The dentist did such a good job she didn't even know he had given her a shot. I was very proud of her. After the dentist we went over to Chris and Chantelle's. We haven't hardly seen them since they got back from Dubai in Jan. Now they are busy trying to get wedding things done for Chantelle's sister. We stopped by for a few minutes and surprise they had gifts from Dubai. Ky got this cool chess set made from soapstone.
The girls got these cute animals also made from soapstone, a turtle and an elephant.
Kami got this cute purse. She has been carrying it around alot, she is such a girly girl!
I got this beautiful pashmina. It is so soft and pretty, and on a pretty model!
Chantelle's mom was there and we enjoyed hearing all the neat things about Dubai. They have some neat stories. We had a nice visit and can't wait to get back together with them when all the wedding stuff is over.
Katie wanted me to take a pic of her new shoes. These are her new church shoes that she wants to wear constantly, sometimes she can really surprise me. She gave a talk today in primary and did great. I almost didn't make it, but got there just in time. She was so cute!
This is how we started off our valentines day celebrations. Ky took the girls around on the sled, and they loved it!
Last night we went to the S&R appreciation dinner. They had king crab legs (yum), steak, and shrimp. We also had the best homemade huckleberry cheesecake! We had a lot of fun, to be honest I wasn't super excited to go but once we got there it was fun. Dawn did an awesome job with the slide show. She had some of the best pictures! After the dinner we hit the stake valentines dance. I always enjoy dancing, it is one of my favorite things. We had a good night and topped it off by hanging out with Mar and talking about England. I got to see the pictures of the castle where Harriet and George want to get married, so beautiful! We are both so EXCITED! I don't know how any of us are going to be able to wait another year plus. We had a fun night with some much needed time away from the girls. Tonight our plans are more laid back. I should also mention that I finally got Ky some composing paper for valentines day. I have been after him for years to write down his songs, now he can. Happy Valentines Day!

More Pictures And News

Here are the picts George FINALLY sent me! JK George. These are at the wolf/discovery center in Yellowstone, and some in England. I think this is the first time Harriet has seen a bear or wolf, at least up close.
It was feeding time for the wolves.
Wow! How close is that bear.
I think this one is so cute!
This one made me laugh! This is a bidet in England.
AWWWW. This is the lake where King Arthur supposedly threw Excalibur. Beautiful countryside.
George with longer hair than me!
Don't they make a cute couple! Harriet is coming back to visit us in April. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we can do some really fun things. And I think I am allowed to say that I am looking forward to Harriet being my sis-in-law. Yep, they are officially unofficially engaged! How fun will an English Wedding be, in England of course! I am so excited for them! However, since George will forever be like 9 to me I can't help but think that is too young to get married! The wedding isn't going to be for awhile, not until George graduates. I am guessing the summer of 2011, enough time for us to save up our pennies! George has been having a good couple of months. He was also offered a teaching position for the Navy, teaching physics and thermodynamics back East when he graduates. I am incredibly jealous of this. What an awesome opportunity. I would have loved to do something like that. Congratulations George and Harriet!

Projects

This past week has been a very busy productive week. I spent a day finishing up some projects I started a LONG time ago. First was Kami's blanket. I started it last year and was hoping it would be a first birthday present- at least I got it done before she was two!
She loves it and sleeps with it all the time now. This seems like it would be a fairly simple project, and it would have if my machine would not have tried to eat the material about every 6 inches! It has problems!
This is the second one I worked on. I actually had the main portion of the curtain done months ago. I added the ties and the top flap last week. I was very short on material and made the flap as long as I could. Also, the straps aren't as wide as I would have liked. I think it turned out pretty good considering this was from scrap material I had in the closet! I figure it is in the laundry room anyway so who really cares!
I love this picture of Kaitlyn, it totally shows her personality. We found this hat in the closet as we were cleaning and she wore it for like three days straight. I practically had to tear it off her head at gymnastics! She loves it because it is just like the one Harriet had.
We also spent a couple of days cleaning out closets and clothes. Ash had so many clothes that don't fit anymore, Katie is loving her new wardrobe! I also discovered that both girls needed new shoes. We of course shopped Zappos and found Ash some cute tennis shoes. Katie is still in need of church shoes, hopefully we can take care of that tomorrow. She did enjoy pulling out her new sketchers from the tote. I am finding that Katie doesn't always have the right size of things for the season. Poor Kyle, he thought we wouldn't every have to buy anything new after Ash!
Ky also enjoyed a busy week with a S&R mtg, an actual S&R search, planning and zoning mtg, and tackling the basement. This was all on top of YM and work!
Friday we hit one of three baptisms (the only one we actually made it too) for the week. Cynthia was baptized and it kinda freaked me out. I was sitting there and realizing that it will be Ash in about 7 months! When did my baby grow up!! We had a good night and the girls enjoyed watching the whole thing. After we got home we tackled the basement again and this is what Kami looked like when we were done!
This is actually after I cleaned her up a bit. She did have dirt caked in her hair! YUK! Thank goodness for soap! We were able to get everything moved out of the storage room and the girls' bedroom. We then finished the demolition in there and framed both rooms except the exterior walls. I will post picts later. Poor Kyle had to deal with my super straight cuts(NOT) with the skill-saw! I did very much enjoy using the sledge hammer to knock out walls! The basement has opened up a ton. We now have lots more crap to haul out and just a little more demolition left. Hopefully, we can get everything out in the next couple of weeks and then finish the demo, that will feel good, finish framing the exterior walls and then run wires. After we run all the wires we will be spraying everything with kilz. Then comes the fun part -sheetrock! I am excited to see it actually taking shape.
Our super bowl plans fell through on Sunday so it was just us. Ky spent most of the game trying to stay awake after having been up for 31 hours straight. He had a search Sat night after we spent all day in the basement and then he came to church when he got back. He didn't even make it to half time! This is what we did while he was sleeping- Ash's idea!
Yep, Sparkly Pink! Poor guy he didn't even know what hit him. Katie spilled the beans after about half an hour- life with all girls!
Even though it was absolutely crazy last week it felt so good to get some of our projects crossed off the list. I did have one nice relaxing girls day with my sis-in-laws, I could use more of those!
